Climate overview 2013

Published in Istituzionale

After a warm fall/winter season and the abundant rainfalls of the first three months of the year, spring opens with a delayed bud break of approximately 10 days.
April and May are characterized by exceptionally warm temperatures, yet with abundant rainfalls. The flowering process is therefore unstable and delayed mainly because of the changeable weather conditions, which last until the end of May.
In June it clears up with warmer temperatures and scarce rainfalls which brings to a rapid conclusion of the flowering process and the following fruit-set stage. A high pressure area (anticyclone) on our hills help to maintain unchanged this climate until the end of July.
August is characterized by highly warm temperatures and lack of rainfalls since July 20th which is responsible for a delayed, yet uncritical, onset of veraison in the berries; the rainfalls of the second half of August bring back average seasonal temperatures. A vintage with an excellent structure and aromas in the grapes and harvesting operations carried out with a wonderful weather.

It has all started from an idea we had in mind for long time: to open our own winery shop right in the same old place where our grandparents had started the wine-making business back in 1970.

Our shop’s name is “Botéga de’ Vin” and it is located in Asolo; here we tell people about our wines and the enchanted hills of Asolo where they’re born from.

“Botéga de’ Vin” is a direct-sale shop where wine-enthusiasts  meet the producer. Here you can find all wines from our production and you can learn about the sustainable viticulture we practice in the vineyards to achieve authentic wines, that respect the soil, the grapes and the men’s environment. As a way to promote the artisanal products from our region, we also provide a genuine selection of oil and food specialties from small local producers.

Climate Overview 2012

22 March 2013 Written by Super User
Published in Istituzionale

The first two months of the year has registered cold temperatures, below the seasonal average, while, on the contrary, March and April has been exceptionally warm, with peak temperatures up to 25-28 C° degrees, which brought forth a bud-burst before time. This can be considered a dangerous condition and it actually had immediate effects with the late freezes of April 9th , which damaged the buds. A very changeable weather during the month of May, both for rainfalls level and temperatures; this condition remains basically unchanged even for the month of June and makes more difficult maintaining the phytosanitary protection in the vineyards.
In the end of June the weather has cleared up, with more stable conditions, summer temperatures and scarce rainfalls.
By the end of July the vines start suffering from the effects of scarce rainfalls; only a few providential but too scarce rainfalls were not enough to ease the draught and, it has been therefore necessary carrying out watering operations on a few estates.
August was characterized by warm temperatures above the seasonal average (beyond 35 C° degrees) and absolute lack of rainfalls since July 20th.
After an early harvesting, due to the heavy draught and high temperatures, has been eventually followed by abundant rainfalls and thunderstorms starting from September 12th.

A very rainy spring until the end of April followed by almost summer temperatures in May and a few relevant thunderstorms. The month of June has recorder very high temperatures in comparison to the seasonal average of that period. July and August were characterized by constant warm temperatures and a providential rainfall has cooled the soil during the first September-week. Then again an unusual heat for the whole month of September. A wonderful weather permitted us to carry out the harvesting operations and did assure a very good harvest.

April has registered abundant rainfalls and the vines absorbed a good reserve of water for the very hot and dry summer months, until the first decade of September, which had a scarse amount of rain. Great vintage with a harvesting time allowing us to pick up the grapes at the best maturation peak.
Grapes of this vintage had an excellent sugar content, quantity of polyphens and aroma. Red wines of this vintage, after a refining in wood barrels, are promising excellent structure and aromas in the glass. Worthwhile for red wines enthusiast to keep some bottles for a few years.
